Appointments

When can you see a clinician?

Routine Appointments

The surgery is open from 08:00 until 18:30 every day except for Bank Holidays and weekends. We try to make appointments available for up to 8 weeks ahead, so if you know you are going to need to see the doctor, for example for a follow up appointment, then you can often book it as you leave the surgery. The clinical staff work at different times and routine appointments are generally available between 08:00 and 11:00 each morning and between 15:00 and 17:30 each afternoon.

When the surgery is closed call 111

A call handler will advise you how best to deal with your problem and if necessary will arrange for an Out Of Hours GP to contact you directly.

Urgent Appointments

We keep an number of appointments for urgent matters that need attention on the day and we also operate a Duty Doctor system. If there are no appointments available and you believe you need to see a doctor that day please give a brief description of the problem to our reception team and they will arrange for the Duty Doctor to call you and discuss what you should do. Remember not every medical problem needs to be seen by a doctor and the Duty Doctor may recommend you see another clinical colleague or get over the counter medication from a pharmacy.

Home Visits

If you can get to the surgery we are always able to provide a better service because we have specialist equipment and computer systems available. If you are genuinely unable to get to the surgery for a medical reason please call before 10:00 and ask for a home visit. The Duty Doctor will call you back and discuss your problem. If a home visit is necessary these are generally undertaken between 13:00 and 15:00, but could be at any time. Home visits are at the discretion of the surgery and will only be done if considered to be clinically necessary by the Duty Doctor.
